Looks like India’s 5G days are getting nearer. A few cities in India are set to get 5G connectivity in 2022, according to the Department of Telecommunications (DOT).
The cities that will have 5G connectivity some time in the next year are Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Pune, and Gandhinagar.
5G trials in these cities are either currently underway or already undertaken by telecom service providers like Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea.
“These metros and big cities would be the first places for the launch of 5G services in the country, next year,” the DOT statement read.
While 4G connectivity focused on streaming on-the-go, 5G capability could offer next-gen speeds for virtually any activity on a smartphone device.
